Good News!

The Results are In!!

Radiology reports from CT scans taken yesterday report no signs of malignant disease! Our Oncologist says that the spot on Lauri's left lung is still there, although unreported by the Radiologist for this scan. Its size remains unchanged; the Oncologist believes if it has grown at all, it is only by a hair's width. She believes that it is probably nothing to worry about, but she would prefer to be overly conservative and do another scan in 2 months to see if it grows again. We have no problem with that, better safe than sorry.

We asked about a forward plan in case it does grow. Basically, the spot is too small right now for Surgeons to even find it, so we would end up waiting until it had grown sufficiently large for them to remove it. Further, our Oncologist says that chemotherapy treatment would not be preferred for a slow growing, single spot at this time.

We also ordered copies of the scans taken over the past several months. Once we get those in, we will try to post some pictures of the before and after scans, so you can get a better idea of what everything looked like. Stay tuned for this one...

In life, rarely do you get news in black and white, especially when it relates to your health. This is certainly no exception! We "probably" are in the clear... Well, we are going to race to the conclusion that Lauri IS in the clear, and the appointment in two months will only reaffirm our assumption. We see this as an acceptable risk, since if we are wrong, we are just back into the waiting game we are in now. Bottom line, we are moving on with life, with eyes wide open and a new appreciation for love, friends, and family.

Thanks to all of you who continue to keep Lauri in your thoughts and prayers, they have been very helpful through this journey. We have certainly had our share of bad times on this journey, but now we can all sit back and take in the good news that the spot in Lauri's lung has not grown, and likely won't grow any more. The news wasn't awesome, but it is certainly good enough for us to breathe a little easier...

Yeah! Sounds like the doctor is confident that everything is going to turn out well. We are all still praying for you both. Can't wait to see you. Kirsten wanted to call and talk to Nanny and Uncle Jeff tonight. I will probably call you tomorrow and let her talk to you.

I was so-o-o excited about the great news that I took off work; yeah that's right, me the severe workaholic took a day off. You are completely right about the new appreciation for love, friends, and family because your journey has touched all of us and by doing so, it has made us stronger, more supportive, loving and appreciative of what life has to offer.

I said it once but I have to say again, ‘you are my heroes’ and it must also be said that I feel both fortunate and proud to be a part of your family.

You can be certain that I and each of my prayer groups will keep you and Jeff high on their prayer lists so that we can keep the good news flowing.
