Valentine's Day and more...

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. I know Jeff and I did, even though he had to work. Here is a picture of us with the beautiful flowers he gave me. He said he wanted to give me flowers that were both dead and alive. Isn't he sweet?

The other day I wrote about getting material for the sashes for our bridesmaids dresses. So here is a picture of Kasuen, Alex and Me with the dresses on. The dresses will be red (the color of my sash in the picture) and the sashes are an ivory color. I think it will look very nice.

Here are the shoes I found for the bridesmaids to wear. They will look great with the dresses!

Life in general

So I know it's been awhile since I've written anything so I'll try to let you know what's been going on. Not much I guess. Jeff has been super busy with the mission. I see him for a few hours in the afternoon when he gets home and then he goes to bed early.

Jeff's mom, Grandma and I went shopping for wedding things on Tuesday. We had a lot of fun and got a lot accomplished. We went out again on Wednesday and we found shoes for the bridesmaids that match really well with the material we got to make the sashes for the dresses. The dresses are apple red with an ivory sash. Things are getting planned for the bridal shower, which I am hosting. So I have been pretty busy with wedding stuff. Kinda good that I'm not working! But I'm having a lot of fun doing this.

Last night, I went to Boondoggles for Erin's birthday celebration. There was about 10 of us in all and we had a good time. We had presents and yummy cake, too! Jeff couldn't make it because he was at home sleeping.

Now about me. For those of you that don't know, my nails had started growing these weird horizontal lines throughout the nail bed, which made them very fragile and brittle. They are almost all grown out now, so I'm excited for that. I guess it was after effects of the chemo, but it was really weird because during chemo, my nails were beautiful, long and strong. Oh well. And now my eyelashes are doing weird things, too. From the inner corner of my upper lid, my eyelashes fell out. They are growing back now, but I just think it's weird. And the bottom lashes are falling out all over! It really sucks! They did this already during chemo, then came back, and now are falling out again. What is going on? But luckily, my hair on my head is continuing to grow. It's not as thick as I'd like, but it's there all the same. It's starting to get this little curl in the back. Not sure if it's going to stay curly or straighten out when it gets longer, we'll see. The hair on top is still straight. Never a dull moment around here!

I guess that's all for now. Jeff will have to work until Monday morning, then he will finally have a break and a normal schedule.

Later...

Shuttle Launch

For those of you that don't know, Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off yesterday afternoon without a hitch. This is big news in our house, since that meant that Jeff finally gets to work as a HawkI for his first NASA Mission. His shift starts at 3:30 am and he gets off between 12-1pm. He won't be on tv much because he's working in the backroom, which doesn't have cameras. But we're still excited all the same.

That's about all that's going on. Until later...

The weekend in review

Well, we just got back into town yesterday afternoon from Louisiana. We had a good time and once again, got to see just about everyone. We left on Friday and were delayed about 2 hours due to construction traffic in Orange. They were "working" on one little bridge and had blocked off maybe a 1/2 mile of the interstate and that just clogged up the whole interstate. It was a mess and very frustrating. But anyway, we made it, just a little later than expected. On Saturday we had my niece's 2nd birthday party. It was pretty fun and she got lots of good presents. After everyone left, we got in the car and headed to downtown New Orleans to go see the Endymion parade. Kevin Costner was the grand marshal, but I didn't get anything from him. The Doobie Brothers were on the next float and I did manage to catch some beads from them! After the parade, we went across the lake and spent the night at my mom's house. The next morning, we woke up bright and early to go back across the lake for a full day of parades. We met up with some friends and caught 5 parades! We saw Hulk Hogan, Les Miles (LSU Head Coach), some LSU football players and the cheerleaders with our mascot, Mike the Tiger. We even saw Ashlee Simpson! Just kidding. There was a girl standing by us that looked just like her. I'll try to get a picture so you can see for yourself. We managed to get to a tv just in time to see the last 2 minutes of the Super Bowl. The Giants pulled off a great one! After the game, we went back to my mom's house. We got up and loaded up her old washer and dryer in Jeff's truck and headed on our way. We made a pit stop in Baton Rouge to buy the family some LSU Championship t-shirts and got to our house late in the afternoon. I picked up Maggie and Bromley from the boarding place and they were very happy to see me. I didn't get an update on how the dogs did over the weekend, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Bromley barked the whole time. He is hoarse! It's got to take a lot of barking to make a dog hoarse. I've got to take him back there on Thursday to get him groomed so I'll try to get the rundown on what happened. Crazy dog! That's all for now. I'm going to try out my new (used) washer and dryer!
